Paul Lockett is a scam

Filed Under Scam on 2007-04-22, 13:28

I received the following email the other day, thought I’d post it up here to let people know that it is a scam. Don’t bother replying.

Good day,

My name is Mr. Paul Lockett, I am a senior partner in the firm of
Infinity Consultants “Private Investigators and Security Consultants”.
We are conducting a standard process investigation on behalf
of “HSBC”, the International Banking conglomerate.

This investigation involves a client who shares the same surname with
you and also the circumstances surrounding investments made by this
client at “HSBC”, the Private Banking arm of HSBC. The HSBC Private
Banking client died in testate and nominated no successor in title
over the investments made with the bank. I would respectfully request
that you keep the contents of this mail private and respect the
integrity of the information you come by as a result of this mail.

I contact you independently of our investigation and no one is
informed of this communication. I would like to intimate you with
certain facts that I believe would be of interest to you.

You share similar details to the late fellow; I am prepared to place
you in a position to instruct the firm to release the deposit to you
as the closest surviving relation. Upon receipt of the deposit, I am
prepared to share the money with you, that is, I will simply nominate
you as the next of kin and have them release the deposit to you. We
share the proceeds 50/50. I would have gone ahead to ask the funds be
released to me, but that would have drawn a straight line to me and my
involvement in claiming the deposit. But on the other hand, you with
the same very name as the depositor’s would easily pass as the
beneficiary with right to claim. I assure you that I could have the
deposit released to you within few days.

I am aware of the consequences of this proposal. I ask that if you
find no interest in this project that you should discard this mail. I
ask that you do not be vindictive and destructive. If my offer is of
no appeal to you, delete this message and forget I ever contacted you.
Do not destroy my career because you do not approve of my proposal.
You may not know this but people like myself who have made tidy sums
out of comparable situations run the whole private banking sector. I
am not a criminal and what I do, I do not find against good
conscience, this may be hard for you to understand, but the dynamics
of my industry dictates that I make this move. Such opportunities only
come ones in a lifetime. I cannot let this chance pass me by, for
once, I have found myself in total control of my destiny. These
chances won’t pass me by. I ask that you do not destroy my chance, if
you will not work with me let me know and let me move on with my life
but do not destroy me. I am a family man and this is an opportunity to
provide them with new opportunities.

There is a reward for this project and it is a task well worth
undertaking. I have evaluated the risks and the only risk I have here
is from you refusing to work with me. I am the only one who knows of
this situation, good fortune has blessed you with a name that has
planted you into the center of relevance in my life. Lets share the
blessing. If you find yourself able to work with me, contact me
through my email account below. If you give me positive signals, I
will initiate this process towards a conclusion.

I send you this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the
consequences, but I know within me that nothing ventured is nothing
gained and that success and riches never come easy or on a platter of
gold. This is the one truth I have learned from my private banking
clients. Do not betray my confidence. If we can be of one accord, we
should plan a meeting, soon.

Kind regards,

Mr. Paul Lockett

I received a second e-mail from this scumbag, and he stressed that our relationship was strictly personal not professional. I kind of got scared and deleted the message. I warn all of you, to be careful. I refused my birthday date. However, I got a phone call from someone that would not say anything. I documented that. and have not received anything else from him at this time. I am going to look up cyberspace stuff to see if he can be reported that way.

I gotta hand it to Paul, he certainly is persistent. He says that he is with Skipton Guernsey Limited and can be reached at plockett177@live.com. Funny how his email address never matches the company he works at.

Now he says he represents the former president of Satyam computers, the guy now caught up in a fraud probe. He wants me to invest 120m pounds of British Sterling for a 20% cut. Course Paul didn't do his homework this time, since I'm a Texan and to me pounds are what we measure the quantity of feed and hay to :-)

Talk dollars to me Paul! And tell me, how much are you gonna send me, up front in cold, hard cash, before I accept your offer? What's that Paul, I can't hear you!

do not find against good conscience, this may be hard for you to
understand, but the dynamics of my industry dictates that I make this
move. Such opportunities only come once in a lifetime. I cannot let this
chance pass me by, for once, I have found myself in total control of my
destiny. These chances won't pass me by. I ask that you do not destroy my
chance, if you will not work with me let me know and let me move on with
my life but do not destroy me. I am a family man and this is an
opportunity to provide them with new opportunities. There is a reward for
this project and it is a task well worth undertaking. I have evaluated the
risks and the only risk I have here is from you refusing to work with me.
I am the only one who knows of this situation, good fortune has blessed
you with a name that has planted you into the center of relevance in my
life. Lets share the blessing. If you find yourself able to work with me,
contact me through this same email account. If you give me positive
signals, I will initiate this process towards a conclusion. I send you
this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the consequences, but I
know within me that nothing ventured is nothing gained and that success
and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold. This is the one truth
I have learned from my private banking clients. Do not betray my
confidence. If we can be of one accord, we should plan a meeting, soon.

    Kind regards,

    Mr. Paul Lockett.

It does no good to turn in this guy for anything because E-MAIL addresses can be closed and new ones opened. The only way you can even catch this guy is if he slips up and says his real name/address/email etc. The only thing you can do is just as bad as it may be...get a new email and don't subscribe to anything. Download McAfee Siteadvisor if you have to subscribe and that helps with spam.

    Good day,

My name is Paul Lockett, I am a senior partner in the firm of Infinity Consultants "Private Investigators and Security Consultants". We are conducting a standard process investigation on behalf of "Barclays Bank", the International Banking conglomerate.

This investigation involves a client who shares the same surname with you and also the circumstances surrounding investments made by this client at "Barclays Bank", the Private Banking arm of Barclays Bank. The Barclays Bank Private Banking client died intestate and nominated no successor in title over the investments made with the bank. I would respectfully request that you keep the contents of this mail private and respect the integrity of the information you come by as a result of this mail.

I contact you independently of our investigation and no one is informed of this communication. I would like to intimate you with certain facts that I believe would be of interest to you. You share similar details to the late fellow; I am prepared to place you in a position to instruct the firm to release the deposit to you as the closest surviving relation. Upon receipt of the deposit, I am prepared to share the money with you, that is, I will simply nominate you as the next of kin and have them release the deposit to you. We share the proceeds 50/50. I would have gone ahead to ask the funds be released to me, but that would have drawn a straight line to me and my involvement in claiming the deposit. But on the other hand, you with the same very name as the depositor's would easily pass as the beneficiary with right to claim. I assure you that I could have the deposit released to you within few days.

I am aware of the consequences of this proposal. I ask that if you find no interest in this project that you should discard this mail. I ask that you do not be vindictive and destructive. If my offer is of no appeal to you, delete this message and forget I ever contacted you. Do not destroy my career because you do not approve of my proposal. You may not know this but people like myself who have made tidy sums out of comparable situations run the whole private banking sector. I am not a criminal and what I do, I do not find against good conscience, this may be hard for you to understand, but the dynamics of my industry dictates that I make this move. Such opportunities only come ones in a lifetime. I cannot let this chance pass me by, for once, I have found myself in total control of my destiny. These chances won't pass me by. I ask that you do not destroy my chance, if you will not work with me let me know and let me move on with my life but do not destroy me. I am a family man and this is an opportunity to provide them with new opportunities.

There is a reward for this project and it is a task well worth undertaking. I have evaluated the risks and the only risk I have here is from you refusing to work with me. I am the only one who knows of this situation, good fortune has blessed you with a name that has planted you into the center of relevance in my life. Lets share the blessing. If you find yourself able to work with me, contact me through my email account below. If you give me positive signals, I will initiate this process towards a conclusion.

I send you this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the consequences, but I know within me that nothing ventured is nothing gained and that success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold. This is the one truth I have learned from my private banking clients. Do not betray my confidence. If we can be of one accord, we should plan a meeting, soon. Please Contact me at paullockett.barclays@hotmail.com

    Kind regards,
    Mr. Paul Lockett.

Busy guy...just got an email from him this afternoon with the following address.

    Paul Lockett [paullockett.barclays@orange.net]

Personally I think it's more than one person. Probably a group of scammers in some dark smoke-filled room hammering out scheme after scheme.

Obviously they must snag someone once in a while, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing it, (just like telemarketers. lol!)

Not sure if they are forged. What I am wondering is if he has managed to scam anyone, and if he has, who? From the first email I recieved, he knew my full name. He used the same paullockett_barclays@hotmail.co.uk. So I responded to his email and got this:

Goodday to you , this is to acknowledge the receipt of your e-mail which was in response to my proposed transaction with you. Firstly, I want to thank you for the prompt response and your positive disposition towards assisting me in this mutual beneficial transaction. Your role is basically to front as the next of kin to the deceased accounts holder with a total sum of US$19.6M, so as to put in claims for these funds. Before this, I would require from you your full names and address, your telephone and fax numbers.

I have attached a copy of my Identification to this mail for you to know the exact person you are dealing with. Note that I am a seasoned banker who knows the intricacies involved in both local and international banking as the case may be. Therefore, I would handle all aspects with my bank to release these funds in your favour and for the funds to leave here to your bank account as swiftly as possible. Once this is presented to my bank, an approval for the deposit will be granted based on the back up documents that would be secured from the justice ministry and these funds would be paid to you as the next of kin and as specified in the beneficiary application for these funds.

Please, take note that I am 50 years old and I have put in over 21 years in the banking industry and as such I would not want to compromise my career. Please keep this matter highly confidential. If I could do this alone, I would not have contacted you in the first place. I believe that I have been explicit enough. You shall be duly compensated as earlier stated.

I want you to take note that due to the sensitivity of my position in my bank, anything around me can arose the interest of the management of my bank and I would prefer to call you to avoid any risk and security of my job as I like my job and family and I know you will grant me this favour.

I await your urgent response for us to proceed further and do try to send down all the required information immediately. Just be rest assured that everything would go fine and that you would definitely be paid these funds if you listen to me and follow all my instructions religiously and you can call me on my direct mobile (+44 70457 91928).

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Paul Lockett

The next email I recieved(I edited the last name):

This transaction is real and you have to put your whole heart. You will have to send me your full names, address, telephone and fax numbers so that I can file an application to the bank for the release of the inheritance claims to you.I await your urgent response ASAP.

    Good day,

My name is Paul Lockett, I am a senior partner in the firm of Infinity
Consultants "Private Investigators and Security Consultants". We are
conducting a standard process investigation on behalf of "Barclays Bank",
    the International Banking conglomerate.

This investigation involves a client who shares the same surname with
you and also the circumstances surrounding investments made by this
client at "Barclays Bank", the Private Banking arm of Barclays Bank. The
Barclays Bank Private Banking client died intestate and nominated no
successor in title over the investments made with the bank. I would
respectfully request that you keep the contents of this mail private and
respect the integrity of the information you come by as a result of this
    mail.

I contact you independently of our investigation and no one is informed
of this communication. I would like to intimate you with certain facts
that I believe would be of interest to you. You share similar details
to the late fellow; I am prepared to place you in a position to
instruct the firm to release the deposit to you as the closest surviving
relation. Upon receipt of the deposit, I am prepared to share the money with
you, that is, I will simply nominate you as the next of kin and have
them release the deposit to you. We share the proceeds 50/50. I would
have gone ahead to ask the funds be released to me, but that would have
drawn a straight line to me and my involvement in claiming the deposit.
But on the other hand, you with the same very name as the depositor's
would easily pass as the beneficiary with right to claim. I assure you
that I could have the deposit released to you within few days.

I am aware of the consequences of this proposal. I ask that if you find
no interest in this project that you should discard this mail. I ask
that you do not be vindictive and destructive. If my offer is of no
appeal to you, delete this message and forget I ever contacted you. Do not
destroy my career because you do not approve of my proposal. You may
not know this but people like myself who have made tidy sums out of
comparable situations run the whole private banking sector. I am not a
criminal and what I do, I do not find against good conscience, this may be
hard for you to understand, but the dynamics of my industry dictates
that I make this move. Such opportunities only come ones in a lifetime. I
cannot let this chance pass me by, for once, I have found myself in
total control of my destiny. These chances won't pass me by. I ask that
you do not destroy my chance, if you will not work with me let me know
and let me move on with my life but do not destroy me. I am a family man
and this is an opportunity to provide them with new opportunities.

There is a reward for this project and it is a task well worth
undertaking. I have evaluated the risks and the only risk I have here is from
you refusing to work with me. I am the only one who knows of this
situation, good fortune has blessed you with a name that has planted you into
the center of relevance in my life. Lets share the blessing. If you
find yourself able to work with me, contact me through my email account
below. If you give me positive signals, I will initiate this process
    towards a conclusion.

I send you this mail not without a measure of fear as to what the
consequences, but I know within me that nothing ventured is nothing gained
and that success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold.
This is the one truth I have learned from my private banking clients. Do
not betray my confidence. If we can be of one accord, we should plan a
meeting, soon. Please Contact me at paullockett.barclays@hotmail.com

    Kind regards,
    Mr. Paul Lockett.

  • Now You Know
Snopes "dot" com discusses this on their site under "Nigerian Scam". It is a very good detailed write-up.
  • Samantha
i just got the message myself but i am not responding, i knew it was fishey when i read it so i looked up his name and found this. interesting.
  • James
I also recieved this e-mail. Paul Lockett included a copy his passport which I would love to broadcast across the internet.
  • 1badtrip
The sender is a known internet scammer. This time he used "paullockett@orange.net"
The unsolicited email proposals are mass blasted. The best advice is to ignore these types of emails...or you can sign him up for a taste of his own spam-medicine to keep him busy by forwarding his info to www.419baiter.com, where they bait scammers into exposing themselves as morons
  • Casey
Who is this guy? He sent me 2 pictures of his passport and one of his birth certificate. Is he even real? The birth certificate is from the UK. What is he trying to scam? He hasn't asked for money yet, I wonder what it is he's trying to do...
  • David
    Agree with you
Just received the message today– this guy obviously doesn’t give up easily. Don’t fall for it. What a joke!

I just opened this today I want to take it to the authorities. Its theft by deception as well as fraud. This man needs to be locked up and the key thrown a way!!!!

Got mine this morning, it's amazing what scum will do to make a buck off a dead person.
The return email address I got was paullockett.barclays@hotmail.com.

Word of advice "If it sounds to good to be true it is probably either false or illegal"

    Hope this guy burns.
  • jocelyn
O just got mine this morning, im glad i found this place cause I knew it had to be a scam but I was wondering why go to this distance? this is terrible. I hope this gets taking care of
  • lorie
I got mine yesterday (March 24, 2008) at 6:30 p.m. He's using Barclay's Bank for my message. Everything else is identical. I wonder what he's using to find our email addresses? What common link do we have?
  • maggie
I did research and I am new to understanding it, but I will say it's nothing "in common" these guys can actually buy your email address from others!! They are known for their bribes this is what they do. Dr. Paul Lockett was my scammer, he got me to fax my driver lisence over to the so called "bank". I fell for this because I was new to the internet. My computer became heavily infected with viruses. I mentioned it to Paul and after I did his email address no longer existed, that's typical since they forever change their emails. I unwittingly scared him away because by telling him that he thought I figured him out!! I also received his call! Yes, I spoke to scam artist Dr. Paul Lockett!!!!!!
For more info just google "Nigerian Inheritance Scam" and go from there. If I were anyone reading this, for further knowleadge on many different scams please google "scams" and find out before it's too late.
  • shailesh
this fucker has sent me a mail stating that i have won some fucking lottery and have to claim it soon. guys beaware and dont fall in this trap
    regards

I have just received the same email mentioned above from p_1lockett@consultant.com . I never participate in illegal activities. Sorry Bud!
  • Jamie
This asshole sent me this same email to, I cant understand what makes people do this kind of crazy nonsense. Hopefully he gets caught and burns for it!
  • SZ Agassi
Well, the good Mr. Paul Lockett has moved his office and changed his email address.

You must now respond to his scam at pal.lockett@hotmail.co.uk
  • John Motil
I also got this jackass's email. The strange thing is that he directly sent it to my email address only. The return path email was anonymous@cgi13.cgi13 but his email was info_paullockett08@ubbi.com. These kind of people REALLY need to get a life that consists of more than trying to screw over people for their personal benefit.
  • i also received it i reply to his e-mail and told him: whats the catch, and which name are u talking about please be expecific. also how did you get my e-mail? i received it 1-22-08 8:06pm

here is a copy of what he sent me today.

  • Cindy Keefe
"Paul Lockett" strikes again, only this time it's yet another email address.

    lockett10046@yahoo.com
  • Terese
I received an email from this gent also, but his return address is different: lockett111@yahoo.com. The biggest tip-off for these types of scam emails is that they are not personally and specifically addressed to you. If you review the email properties, your specific email address will not appear. The other tip-off is the tone of the letter. It drips of illegality and urges you to participate in the deception. As always with anything online, be smart, be intelligent, and check it out first because most of the stuff we receive is crap.
  • sabrina
I just got this one below & found geeked.info when I googled the guy's name... do people really fall for this stuff? They were even trying to validate their bogus email with real wiki links...
